We will be starting our new Studio class next week and I'm very excited to start using some new equipment.
The Magic Circle also known as Fitness Circle or ring of fire. It was originally crated by Joseph Pilates.
The main purpose is to create correct alignment, it also creates awareness of imbalances in the body. When squeezing the ring inwards or outwards, an instructor can see if the shoulders are staying stabilised or rounding forwards or outwards with the motion of the squeeze. Placing the ring in between the ankles or inner thighs and repetitions of squeezes turns on the adductor which essentially helps helps strenghten the core form the bottom up.
We will also use Foam Rollers!
I love foam rolling after class. It can help relieve muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation, and increase your joint range of motion.
Start with light pressure and build up as you get used to foam rolling.
Slowly roll for 10 seconds to start, then work up to 30 to 60 seconds at the time.
Drink plenty of water after foam rolling to help with recovery.
I would highly recommend to purchase one for home too.
